PREREQUISITES FOR ENTRY Must be able to swim 15 meters of the pool demonstrating freestyle and backstroke staying horizontal from the head to the feet. DESCRIPTION This is our first level of the swim team for ages 6-8 and is for beginning swimmers just out of swim lessons. Beginners will learn about competitive swimming strokes and will work towards being introduced to competition. Swimmers will have two scheduled practice sessions per week. Progression to the next level would be based on achievement (Dolphins 2) or age (Bronze 1 / Dolphins 3). Swimmers in Dolphins 2 have some competitive swimming experience. The focus of this group is to refine and continue to develop the swimmer’s skills. Conditioning and endurance training are also introduced. All of the swimmer’s other activities, such as soccer, baseball, dance, etc. are encouraged. Swimmers generally compete in SBSC hosted inter-squad and sanctioned invitational meets and are encouraged to attend at least 3-4 practices offered each week. More experienced swimmers generally compete in local "BRW" level swim meets.  Progression to the next level is based on age (Bronze 1) or achievement (Bronze 2). PREREQUISTES AND PROCEDURE FOR PROMOTION Promotion to Dolphins 2 will be offered as soon as swimmers have demonstrated proficiency in all 4 competitive strokes, diving from a block, and legal competitive turns. Swimmers are evaluated each practice. If swimmers do not meet this move-up criteria by age 9, they will be promoted to Dolphins 3 on the 1st of the month after their 9th birthday.

Promotion to Bronze 1&2 will be offered on the 1st of the month after their 9th birthday.

Swimmers may be eligible for Bronze 2 if:

  1. they have achieved two 9-10 BB times in two different strokes
  2. they have completed the 9-10 IMX

Bronze 2 eligible swimmers may be promoted earlier if they have achieved a 9-10 year old WAG (eligible Aug 1 if they will be 9 before WAG) or a 9-10 year old Spring JO time (eligible January 1 if they will be 9 before Spring JOs) or a 9-10 year old JAG time (eligible April 1 if they will be 9 before JAG)

Promotion to Bronze 1 (age 9-10), Silver 1 (age 11-12), or Grold (age 13-14) will be offered as soon as swimmers have demonstrated proficiency in all 4 competitive strokes, diving from a block, and legal competitive turns. Swimmers are evaluated each practice. If swimmers do not meet this move-up criteria by age 15, they will be aged out of the group and the team will no longer have any program fitting their skill level.

All Dolphin families are required to complete 8 hours of volunteer duties per year. Participating in the teams anual Narhwalathon is highly encouraged with a goal of $200 Fundraising.
