SBSC REACHING NEW HEIGHTS AND BREAKING RECORDS HEADED INTO DECEMBER CHAMPIONSHIPS

Santa Barbara Swim Club is reaching new heights and breaking records as they head into the Winter Championship Season. In November, there were two main meets where SBSC swimmers competed and excelled. The David Graham Invite in Ventura geared for our age group swimmers brought a new team Top-10 time in the 100 yard fly. Lucas Angel came home with a time of 1:13.48 which pushed him to #7 on the team's Boy's 10 and under Top 10, knocking two SBSC alumni off of the list who were tied in the 10th place spot (Drew Casier 2001 / Tristan Depew 2011).

On the same weekend, our senior swimmers (no age group divisions) were swimming at the Kevin Perry Invite in La Mirada. Ben Caputo's 100 yd backstroke performance was good enough for #9 on the 15-16 boys top 10 list. His time of 54.49 knocked Danny Beal (2002) from the list. The most notable SBSC swim of the meet came in the Women's 200yd Backstroke. Taylor Steelman shattered Emily Tursick's two-decade old record 15-16 team record of 2:01.52 (2002) with a 2:00.79. Way to go Taylor. One more notable swim came in the Women's 50 Freestyle where Sophia Hall punched her first ticket to the December Sectional Championships in the 100 Freestyle with a time of 24.72.

These are some great times as we head into our December Championships. We have WAGs December 8-10 and Sectionals December 12-15.
